By and For Inland NW Writers

Well I went to my first INWG meeting here in Spokane.  It was not all I thought it would be.  They were trying something different but it was not my speed.  I have never been fond of impromptu writing.  Sometimes, however, impromptu writing can be inspirational.  I have created some of my most powerful pieces from a prompt, but I am not so good with time limits.  I would suggest one writing prompt per meeting with the whole meeting to work on the piece then share, but that would surely take away the focus from the normal course of the meeting where people read what they have written and share their inspiration with others.  I am excited for next month where that is exactly what will happen.  I am not giving up.  The meeting wasn’t a total disappointment.  I did make some connections that will help me in my quest to become a better writer.  I hope that more good things will come this year.

Hi, Kathy... Thanks for your comments. We rarely do something like the impromptu writing. This was something to get some folks to understand that they can write more than they think they can, and many of our members have enjoyed it in the past and requested more, but I don't think we do it more than 2-3 times in a year, if that. See you next Wednesday (and Monday?). Linda
