By and For Inland NW Writers
5:30 social time and a chance to eat early
6:00 guest speaker (see below) and discussion
7:00 more social time or whatever works
7:30 closing - restaurant closes at 8 p.m.
In addition to our regular meeting (starting with food if you want to eat), we will welcome a special guest speaker and member of our Meetup group:
Scott McIntyre, the son behind Read My Dad’s Stuff, will be sharing about the plan to get his talented but unknown dad’s writing widely published. You’ll learn a little about this 93 year-old, WWII Navy veteran’s life; details about the project, including an encouraging look at perseverance when success doesn’t jump out at you; hear a brief synopsis and excerpt from “Bluebell”, his dad’s historical fiction book dealing with racial injustice in small town America in the 1930’s; and – Spoiler Alert – how to get free short stories by the author.
Depending on remaining time available, we will discuss "Personal Stories" - the difference between biography, auto-biography, memoir, essay, historial fiction based on real events, and self-help books.
Hope you can make it to the Guild meeting! Due to changes in hours at Frankie Doodle’s, this will be the last evening Guild meeting to be held there, so bring your appetite for one last hurrah!
