Event Description

The Guild will be meeting in a new location (Perkins) and on a new day of the month (2nd Wednesday). We will have the room from 5:30 to 7:30 (a little later if no other group wants it).

  • Date: Wednesday, January 8, 2020
  • Time: 5:30 to 7:30 (official meeting starts at 6)
  • Location: Perkins Restaurant – 12 E. Olive Avenue – on Division, just South of the bridge that crosses the Spokane River downtown – free parking lot – accessible from the East on the side streets, or when driving North on Division from the freeway or downtown streets – if unsure, you can “Google” it!

While I never want you to feel pressured to buy a full meal at the meeting, this room “guarantee” is higher than it was at Frankie’s so I do appreciate all those who have dinner or at least dessert and/or a beverage. It all adds up! I do not ask for membership fees, so for those who have asked how they can help support the Guild, this is your answer. Any purchase or small donation will go a long way to help. As always, I will cover the shortfall if Perkins asks. I don’t really anticipate any problems with the new arrangement. Thanks!

Meeting Focus:

Plan to start the “meeting” at 6 p.m. To celebrate all things new, we’ll welcome in the New Year with a meet-n-greet social hour to share what we accomplished in 2019 and what we hope to accomplish in 2020. Any book news folks? Come share your thoughts as we discuss:

  • The topics we want to cover in our meetings this year. Suggestions anyone? Any speakers you might like to suggest as resources for our meetings would be helpful. I hope to have a list of possible ideas at this meeting so we can vote on them. As things change over time, the vote would not be binding but it would provide guidance for setting future meetings.

  • Should we have small critique groups at one or more of our meetings? The new room offers small tables in a larger area which would facilitate groupings.

  • Should we shine the spotlight on one or two self-published authors and their works at one or more of our meetings? This could include having those particular authors read from their books at that time.

Any other ideas? Come prepared to share and have fun!
